There have been a number of enquiries from members asking about how copyright affects the photos they put into the gallery.
As far as copyright is concerned you will have noticed that we take the protection of people’s images very seriously indeed and although nothing is perfect, I hope you feel that we do a good job in helping members display their old photos in a safe and secure environment – for example; all jpegs are automatically watermarked on upload and Right Click -> Save As is disabled to prevent folks from ripping off (stealing) photos…

NEWSPAPERS NEED YOUR HELP!
The first part of this article will be of particular interest to members with photographs of the Derwentside area in the North East of England.
You may or may not know that the regional daily newspaper “The Evening Chronicle” has run a number of great stories about our site over the past few months. They have become something of an ally in our quest for new members and I keep them informed about anything of interest in the Old Photo Forum.
This relationship is now starting to pay dividends and the newspaper views the forum as an important source of interesting and informative images from the past.
