Steamroller Graveyard

Isn’t it amazing what you learn from people at local history meetings?

I was invited by a member (our very own uacemac) to the Castleside History Society open evening a couple of days ago (that’s in County Durham UK for overseas viewers/readers).

There was no official speaker booked this particular evening so the group projected a fascinating slide programme of old local photos which was looped throughout the meeting. There were more than a few

History of Durham c1834

I’ve been thumbing through a very old book that I acquired almost 30 years ago. It has been lost and loaned out over that time and rediscovered only recently.

How Old is an Old Photo?

I was asked the other day, “How old should a photo be before it’s an old photo?”… good question.

That’s fine by me. So, any photos you have that are ten-years old and more can quite happily be included in your galleries.

The optimum size for images uploaded to the image gallery is 800 pixels (see links:

If you have a few images to upload and you don’t want to spend half your life resizing each one individually in your photo

Best Photo Size For Gallery

This is actually part of a post from the discussion board, but I thought I would reproduce it here for those people who have either missed the post or haven’t yet visited the forum…

…Someone asked the other day about the best size to use for uploaded photos to the forum.

The system is set up to accept nothing larger than a 2500 pixel dimensions (in either direction, upright or wide) but I find an
